Electricity Safety Checklist

*Is there is a maintenance program in place?

*Has electrical equipment been tested?

*In addition for construction workplaces: Have portable and fixed electrical equipment been tagged?

*Is there is a record of relevant test data?

*Is the tester’s licence number on the tags?

*Are RCDs installed at switchboards and fixed sockets?

*Are portable electrical equipment protected by RCDs?

*Are RCDs labelled and have they been tested?

*In addition for construction workplaces: Are all final sub-circuits, socket outlets, portable generators and equipment protected by RCDs?

*Do all connections have either moulded or transparent type plugs?

*Are plugs, sockets and extension leads in good condition?

*Are all flexible cords protected from damage?

*In addition for construction workplaces: Has it been ensured that aerial cables are not fixed or attached to scaffolding?

*Are cords suitable for the length in use?

*Has it been ensured that double adaptors and three-pin plug adaptors are not in use?

*Are switchboards labelled correctly and protected from damage?

*Are light fittings suitable for the location and protected from breakage?

*Are power points suitable for location and positioned safely?

*Is the work organised for the safety of employees and others at workplace?
