Apart from fire or explosions, gas cutting processes may produce gases and fumes that are harmful to workers. Use this Gas Cutting Checklist template to ensure steps and measures have been take to protect workers, and manage risks when conducting gas cutting activities.

Gas Cutting Checklist

Items to Check

*1.All cylinder bottles are secured in a suitable cylinder rack or trolley and kept in upright position.

*2.Correct gas type is used and with proper color identification. (Black for oxygen, Maroon for dissolved acetylene)

*3.A correct type of pressure regulator is affixed to the working pressure and properly tightened to the cylinder valve.

*4.The pressure regulator in good condition.

*5.No valve spindles or connections are lubricated with oil where it will easily become ignited in the presence of oxygen.

*6.The cylinder is kept well away from the electrical welding tools, welding sparks, other heat sources and corrosive liquids.

*7.Each hose is securely attached to its connections using suitable crimps and is in good condition.

*8.Hoses are coupled/connected together with proper coupler and no coupler of copper type is used for acetylene hose (copper form explosive mixture with acetylene).

*9.The hose is properly coiled after use so that it does not pose as a tripping hazard.

*10.Flashback arrestor is affixed to the outlet of the regulator.

*11.Flashback arrestor is affixed to the inlet of the gas hose of the cutting torch.Proper personal protective equipment is provided. (Hand glove & Goggle)

*12. Soap solution provided and the set is daily checked for leakage.
