Safe Isolation checklist

General Information

Safety

*Is there a risk of electrocution and death?

*Is there a risk of impact injuries arising out of recoiling from contact with live electrical parts?

Health

*Is there a risk of electrical burns?

*.Is there a risk of inhalation of smoke and other toxic fumes?

Enviroment

*Is there a risk of noxious fumes from the ignition of combustible materials?

Managerial/Supervisory tasks (including pre-planning)

*Do contractors have a safe isolation procedure in place and have they explained it to you?

*Have you been informed each time prior to the safe isolation procedure being used?

*As far as possible, have checks been periodically made to ensure the procedure is being used properly?

*Have other trades been contacted, as necessary, when isolated circuits or equipment could adversely affect their safety?

Training/Competency Requirements

*Have training records been inspected to confirm that those involved in operating the safe isolation procedure are competent to do so:

Safe Systems of Work and Basic Control Measures

*Is the safe isolation procedure itself at the heart of a safe system of work?

*Is the safe isolation procedure backed up with a permit to work system?

Specific Regulatory or Special Requirements

*Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations:
